Job Opportunities

Head of School Position
Madison Community Montessori School (MCMS) is seeking a new Head of School to begin July 2020. MCMS was founded in 1972 with the goal to provide authentic AMI Montessori education. With a long-standing and talented faculty and staff, MCMS has been providing children in the Madison area with a rich Montessori experience and exceptional education for 47 years. It is the only school in Wisconsin with AMI recognition for all levels 0-12.

Through the efforts of a dedicated and hardworking community, MCMS opened its forever home in the fall of 2012; a nearly 22,000 square-foot Montessori facility on just over 2 acres on the outskirts of Madison, Wisconsin. In this beautiful setting, roughly 150 students, toddlers through adolescents, eagerly arrive daily to make choices that reflect their interests, passions and curiosities. MCMS has had only four heads of school in the past 47 years and welcomes the fresh insights of its next leader who will have the opportunity to further the school’s mission of respecting children and their natural joy of discovery.

With a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape in which the school is positioned, the new head of school will bring leadership and focus on increasing school enrollment with special attention to the upper levels. The new head of school will empower staff to creatively apply new experiences both inside and outside the classroom while at the same time, ensuring all programs continue to offer authentic AMI experiences.

MCMS’s next head of school shall possess a Master’s degree in education or a related field and a background in or commitment to Montessori education. AMI certification and a minimum of three years experience in non-profit or business leadership is preferred.
